Afraid and wandering, we lost our way.
With no aid in sight, we began to pray:
“Please keep us safe in such hostile lands,”
Then came the warm touch of Heavenly Hands.
Perhaps one on our shoulder when we felt alone,
another pointed the way which then led us home.
The help came unseen like the wind as it blew,
we all felt it upon us, and that’s how we knew;
Angels still watch and sometimes send us a “rose” –
A gift to remind us that Heaven still knows
All that we go through and all that we need.
Surely Heaven is with us, if we’ll only give heed.
This painting actually has three different symbolisms for me. The first is described in the poem I wrote and refers to the possibility of “Guardian Angels”, heavenly beings who watch over us, providing guidance, protection and comfort during our mortal lives. The second alludes to the belief that children are divine blessings whether they are born directly into our familiar or they come through the miracle of adoption…. either way they are truly Heaven sent! The third belief represented is also a tender one. Sometimes these little blessings are “called home” early. The pain of losing a child can be almost unbearable but nurturing the simple faith that they are received by loving “heavenly hands” gives us comfort, hope and peace until we meet again.
