Christ often taught that we should become as little children, and that simple yet profound idea has always resonated with me. Children have a unique ability to see the world with fresh eyes, free from the judgments and weariness that life often brings. In painting New Beginnings, I wanted the child at Christ’s side to embody that spirit of renewal—a reminder that no matter where we’ve been, we can always begin again, with hearts full of hope.
Drawing inspiration from the symbolism of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, this painting blends themes of hope and transformation. Rosh Hashanah is a time of reflection, renewal, and the opportunity for a fresh start. The apples in Jesus’ hands, along with the jar of honey at His feet, symbolize the sweetness we seek in new beginnings, while the butterfly represents rebirth and spiritual renewal.
Together, these elements reflect the universal desire to let go of the past and embrace a new chapter with the presence and hope of a child.
